1: What is aluminum alloy gravity casting?

Simply put, aluminum alloy gravity casting is a process that uses gravity to fill the mold with molten metal and solidify it. It is a very efficient manufacturing method, especially suitable for large and complex parts. In gravity casting, molten aluminum alloy flows from the furnace into the casting mold by the force of gravity, filling the mold and forming an aluminum alloy casting.

1. Design and make molds. The quality of the mold directly affects the quality of the final product, so this step is crucial. Usually, the design and production of molds are done by experienced engineers or professional teams. They will choose the most suitable materials and processes based on the size, shape and usage requirements of the product.

2. Measure and test the mold. Designed molds need to be accurately measured and tested to ensure their accuracy and stability.

3. Make the mold into the required shape and size through machine processing. This step requires a high degree of expertise and precise equipment.

4. Prepare the aluminum alloy liquid and pour it into the mold. After the aluminum alloy liquid fills the mold, it is cooled and solidified by gravity. Finally, through demoulding, cleaning and other steps, the final product is obtained.

Three: Aluminum alloy gravity casting method.

1. Sand gravity casting: Gravity is used in sand molds to inject molten aluminum alloy into the mold. This method is suitable for larger and thicker aluminum alloy castings.

2. Low-pressure gravity casting: Under low-pressure conditions, molten aluminum alloy is injected into the mold by gravity. This method is suitable for manufacturing larger and more complex aluminum alloy castings and can reduce the occurrence of pores and defects.

3. Injection gravity casting: Molten aluminum alloy is injected into the mold by gravity. This method is suitable for manufacturing larger and thicker aluminum alloy castings and has high production efficiency.

In the aluminum alloy gravity casting process, the temperature, fluidity and solidification process of the aluminum alloy need to be controlled to obtain the required casting shape and properties. In addition, aluminum alloy gravity casting also needs to consider the design and manufacturing of molds to ensure the quality and dimensional accuracy of the castings.

Four: What should we pay attention to when manufacturing aluminum alloy gravity casting molds?

1. Selection of mold materials. For gravity casting, the mold needs to withstand high pressures and temperatures, so choosing the right material is particularly important. Commonly used mold materials include cast iron, cast steel and aluminum alloy. Each material has its own unique characteristics and scope of application.

2. Mold processing technology. The processing accuracy and surface quality of the mold are directly related to the quality of the final product. Manufacturers need to choose appropriate processing equipment and processes, such as CNC machine tools, EDM, etc., to ensure the accuracy and surface finish of the mold.
